Wintergreen Summer Vacation, July 2012
Although I keep separate webpages for our times at Wintergreen, I decided to have a separate page to chronicle our family vaction
in the summer of 2012. Although we make it to our condo at Wintergreen for many weekends, its actually pretty rare for us to spend
an entire week there; in fact, this vacation may actually be the first time we've done so. We got to visit and experience the resort
to a level we never have before, and although we've seen a lot of Wintergreen's 11,000 acres, there were many trails and sights we
had never taken the time to see. I think we would all admit it was one of our best vacations ever!
Overlooking the Shenandoah Valley on the Old Appalcahian Trail (the AT was re-routed slightly around Wintergreen when it was developed
in the 1970s).
Grace navigating a ledge on the Old Appalachian Trail.
Starting down the Devils Knob Loop Trail, part of the ring trail that encircles Wintergreen.
Grace and Debbie working their way down the Devils Knob Loop Trail.
Lee taking the hard way up a cliff on the Devils Knob Loop Trail, (above), and Grace giving it a go (left).
The Wintergreen Nature Foundation conducted a carnival of sorts during the day, July 4th.
